Our team at Hostology has recently finished the Carbon Literacy Training with the Sustainable Wedding Alliance. Over two days, we engaged with fellow industry professionals to learn about the climate crisis and climate justice. We then brainstormed actionable steps to reduce our industry’s impact, considering that the average UK wedding generates a staggering 14.5 tons of CO2!

During the training, we learnt that recognizing the environmental consequences of our actions is the initial step towards meaningful change. And that by becoming carbon literate, we can pinpoint opportunities to cut emissions, reduce waste, and embrace more sustainable practices within our businesses.

The course, along with the resources provided by the Sustainable Wedding Alliance was immensely helpful in starting the conversation around what we can do as a business to make a positive impact in the wedding industry.

We are exciting to start implementing some changes both in our personal lives and in our business practices to reflect what we’ve learnt. We encourage fellow wedding professionals to join us in this important endeavor.

Together, we can create weddings that are not only beautiful but also environmentally responsible.
